On a dare from his kids, Jim wrote a story about their neighbor George Brown. Out of that challenge came Two Doors Down Mr. Brown, dedicated to the wonderful Mr. Brown and the aura he brought to the Roberts house and, indeed, the whole neighborhood.

Two Doors Down showcases wonderful intergenerational connections and the practice of being a good neighbor. Mr. Brown exemplified these attributes, and his story was ripe for telling. So Jim wrote it.

Once Jim’s journey toward media production began, all number of people told him stories they thought needed to be told. With Fight Night leading the way, many of them were interesting. But none was as fascinating, meaningful and unknown as the one Jim’s friend Greg told him about his father.

Bill Clarkson was drafted into the segregated Army in 1943 as an 18 year old in Connecticut. Nicknamed “Click,” he watched D-Day from a transport vessel in the English Channel and made Omaha Beach the next morning. He was a company clerk, so a typewriter rather than a weapon weighed his 150 pounds into the frigid water. The story of Click Clarkson Gets Drafted moves from draft day, through basic training, the build-up in Scotland, survival on the beach, and life in the Army for a black man in World War II.

The stories of the men who served a country that did not serve them back. Stories that need to be told. Jim is working on a deal with an educational publisher for release in 2024.
